Box Score 3 BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Warriors have broken the 20-win mark as they now sit at 20-3 on the year with an 8 game winning streak at hand.
GAME 1: Hunter Pitches 7, Webber Rallies In 5th Inning
The Warriors started off Friday evening playing Saint Xavier. A first inning error plagued the Warriors as they quickly found themselves in a 3-0 hole. In the 4
th inning,
Jesse Coleman shot a single up the middle that scored
Matt Piatt. In the 5
th inning, singles by
Matt Saliba,
Sjaghbar Martis and
Matt Piatt, plus a double from
Marcus Begg, took the Warriors to a 5-3 lead. The Warriors held the lead taking the first game.
GAME 2: Martis Homered, Mintell Throws 5 Hitter
Webber took on Lawrence Tech University in the second game on Friday, in what ended up being an 8 error night between both teams, the Warriors capitalized. Jumping ahead in the 1
st inning was the Blue Devils as they plated 2 runs off two errors by the Warriors. In the 3
rd inning,
Sjaghbar Martis hit a deep ball out to right field that left the yard and jumped the Warriors ahead 3-2.
Manny Rodriguez, in a part of his 3-3 3RBI night, scored
Matt Saliba twice during the 3
rd and 4
th innings. The Warriors ended up taking down the Blue Devils 8-2 of the back of
Brady Mintell that threw a complete 7 inning game only surrendering 5 hits and 0 earned runs.
Game 3: Martis and Coleman Homer, Terron Improves To 5-0
Webber took the field against Saint Xavier again this morning at 9:00 a.m. They quickly jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the first 3 innings, off the backs of
Sjaghbar Martis who went 2-2 with 1 homerun and 3 RBI's and
Jesse Coleman who went 2-2 with 1 homerun and a double plating 4 RBI's.
Juan Terron threw 5 innings only giving up 4 hits, 0 runs, and striking out 8. He improved to 5-0 on the year.
STAT LINE: Sjaghbar Martis went 6-9 with 2 homeruns during the 3 game set.
Manny Rodriguez was 6-9 while drawing 2 walks.
FINAL THOUGHTS: Webber extends their win streak to 8 straight games. They rank 13
th in the country with a scoring average of 8.5 runs a game. They reached the 20th win mark with their victory over Saint Xavier this morning. Head Coach,
Brad Niethammer, is now just 30 wins away from 700 career victories. They receive a couple days off as they take on the visiting Purdue University North Central Panthers in a double header starting at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday March 14
