#11 Lady Warriors Split Home Opener With Calumet College

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BABSON PARK, Fla. – The lady Warriors opened up with a double header at home today against the visiting Calumet College Crimson Wave. The two teams would split the contests with the Crimson Wave taking game 1, 5-2 and the lady Warriors taking game 2, 9-5.

The excitement was high today on Webber's Campus at Nancy Nichols field, as the 2017 season home opener was set to take flight.

GAME 1: Isoba Hits 2-Run Homer, Crimson Wave Keep Warriors at bay 5-2

Calumet pitching was the name of game as they held Webber to just 6 hits. Megan Isoba came to the plate for the Warriors in the 3rd inning with a runner already on second base. With the lady Warriors down 0-3, Isoba smacked a 2-run shot deep to centerfield and brought the game to 2-3. Unfortunately, the Warriors were unable to calm the Crimson Wave as they extended and held on to their lead taking game 1 by a score of 5-2.

Stat Line:
Brandi Hazen was 2-4 with 1 double and 1 run scored. Megan Isoba was 1-3 with 2 RBI's. On the mound for the Warriors was Naomi Spurgeon as she threw the 7 inning complete gave surrendering 5 runs and 12 hits while striking out 4.

GAME 2: Warriors Bats Bust Loose, Borders 2-3 With 2 Doubles and 3 RBI's
Webber struck first blood as Laura Borders shot a double into the outfield that scored Alyssa Householder making the score 1-0. The 3rd inning is where the lady Warriors went to work. They put together 8 runs in the 3rd by a few singles, a Laura Borders double (2) and a Cassidy Roberts double to go ahead 9-0. Sabrina Hebding was pitching a masterful game through the first 4 innings holding the Crimson Wave to just 3 hits. Calumet mounded an attack in the 5th inning with 5 hits and 5 runs scored forcing Hebding to hand the ball over to Raven White. White finished out the game throwing 2.1 innings only giving up 2 hits and striking out 1. The Warriors went on to win game 2, 9-5.

Stat Line:
Laura Borders fired up the offense going 2-3 with 2 doubles, 1 stolen base and 3 RBI's. Victoria Atkinson also went 2-3 as she had 1 run scored and 1 walk. Cassidy Roberts smoked a double to left center going 1-3 with 2 RBI's. Joining the single hit club was Brandi Hazen, Megan Isoba and Kaitlin Cockroft.

FINAL THOUGHTS: The #11 Webber International University lady Warriors move to 3-1 on the season. Though early on in the year, Megan Isoba maintains her Sun Conference leading .625 batting average. Raven White leads the Sun Conference in ERA with .000. They take on the always tough Davenport University in a double header on Friday March 3rd, located right here on the Webber International campus, with first pitch scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
