BABSON PARK, Fla.—Webber International University's women's beach volleyball team kicked off their season this week hosting Crooked Lake rival, Warner University. The Lady Warriors came away with a 4-1 win over the Royals.
The Lady Warriors started off strong in very windy and rainy conditions, with wins in straight sets by both the #4 and #5 seeds.
Katie Schueman and
Kaxandra Naranjo were matched up against Eve Saint-Clair and Ashley Kube from Warner in the #5 position. Schueman and Naranjo took down the Royals in straight sets (21-12, 21-19).
Michelle Calderon and
Hannah Tannone defeated Raygen Lee and Vanessa Boitnott 21-5, 21-8 to secure a 2-0 advantage for the Lady Warriors going into the final three matches of the day.
Brianna Baez and
Amber Lake gave Webber the final win they needed to secure the match, defeating Kaitlyn Hippchen and Breighly Bolton 21-19, 21-13 at the #3 seed.
Tessa Colden and
Carlee Baxter took down Angie Pagan-Perez and Cat Lind at the #2 seed (21-10, 21-15) to give the Lady Warriors their 4
th victory of the day.
The Lady Warriors suffered their only loss of the day at the #1 position.
Alexandra Spadaro and
Nikki McDaniel were defeated by Adrienne Czaplewski and Thalia Mendez in a very tight match (19-21, 18-21).
"I am very proud of the team's performance and what they accomplished yesterday with a 4-1 victory. We are looking forward to the rest of the season and getting a chance to see Warner again this weekend!" Says head coach

Webber will take to the sand again on Saturday February 25
th at Polk State College for the Sun Conference Beach Tournament. There will be teams from Warner University, Johnson & Wales University, Florida Memorial University, and Southeastern University. Game times to be announced. Go Warriors!!!
