Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s soccer shutout by No. 15 Saint Thomas

BABSON PARK, Fla. (October 21, 2017) – The Warriors had a great opportunity to get on the board first against the 15th-ranked team in the NAIA, but the Webber International University men's soccer team could not convert before it ultimately fell to Saint Thomas University, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon at Warrior Field.

Fernando Lozano had a shot saved two minutes and twenty seconds into the match, and then four minutes later found himself one-on-one with the Saint Thomas goalkeeper, Connor Christie, but he could not convert on a score that would have given the Warriors a 1-0 lead.

Instead, Saint Thomas quickly took over the match with excellent ball control that resulted in a score just under 11 minutes in. The Bobcats kept the Warriors on the defensive for the majority of the remainder of the first half, and added to their lead with less than two and a half minutes remaining before the intermission.

Webber was held to only one shot in the second half, and gave up an own goal moments before the 71st-minute mark.

In addition to Lozano, Aldo Lopez, Noel Omondi, Diachi Arahara and Robert Green were the other shot takers for Webber, which fell to 2-8-1 overall and 0-6-1 in The Sun Conference. Saint Thomas saw its record rise to a conference-best 9-1-1 overall with a 7-0-0 league record as the Bobcats also clinched The Sun Conference Regular Season Championship for this season after winning the conference tournament championship a year ago.

With only two matches remaining on the season for Webber, the Warriors' Senior Day will take place at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 25, as Webber hosts Florida Memorial University.
