LAKELAND, Fla. (October 11, 2017) – The Webber International University men's soccer team traveled to Lakeland, Florida, to battle a fellow Polk County opponent, Southeastern University, on Wednesday evening. After a scoreless tie at halftime, the Warriors would go on to fall to the Fire by a score of 4-0.
Junior goalkeeper
Alistair Shanks helped keep the match knotted up heading into the second period, but Southeastern wasted little time in the frame, connecting on a goal three minutes in, and then doubling up its lead nine minutes later. Six and a half minutes after going up 2-0, the Fire scored two goals in a two-minute, 15-second time span to put it out of reach.
Shanks would finish with four saves on the night, and
Charlie Lambert,
Fernando Lozano,
Diachi Arahara and
Sam Todd each had a shot on goal.
The Warriors fell to 2-5-1 overall on the season, and are now 0-4-1 in The Sun Conference. Southeastern, which has now won four consecutive matches, saw its record rise to 5-4-1 overall and 3-1-1 in the conference.
The Warriors will host SCAD Savannah during Homecoming Weekend, Saturday, October 14, for a 10 a.m. kickoff time.
