Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s soccer comes up short against SCAD Savannah

BABSON PARK, Fla. (October 14, 2017) – Senior Sam Todd scored on a strong kick from about 30 yards out to tie the match at 1-1 less than four minutes into the second half, but in the end, it would not be enough as the Webber International University men's soccer team fell to SCAD Savannah by a score of 3-1 on a wet and rainy Saturday morning at Warrior Field.

The first shot of the match for Webber (2-6-1 overall, 0-5-1 The Sun Conference) did not come until 24 minutes into the match from MacKinley Burns, and the save from SCAD's (5-7, 3-3) Joe Parker quickly resulted in a score by Arthur Bello Veiga only 15 seconds later to make it 1-0 Bees.

The Warriors would go on to fire five more shots in the opening half, forcing two more saves from SCAD, and then opened the second half with Todd's goal at the 48:39 mark.

Aldo Lopez and Fernando Lozano fired back-to-back shots in the 62nd minute, requiring saves from the new SCAD goalkeeper, Will Barnett, but could not break through to give Webber the lead.

The Bees, however, did break through less than five minutes later with a goal on a header off of a corner kick, and then added a penalty kick for a goal a little over a minute and a half later to take the wind out of the Warriors' sails.

Lopez fired another shot that required saving in the 73rd minute, and then Webber's last shot opportunity, which came from Juan Pablo Zambrano in the 83rd minute, sailed wide right.

The Warriors will travel to Temple Terrace, Florida, to face Florida College in nonconference action at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17.
