1/8/2017 9:26:00 AM

Box Score BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Warriors took on #22 Florida Memorial University yesterday evening in a matchup of the Sun Conference. Florida Memorial entered the game as the TSC's last undefeated team sitting at 5-0. The Warriors came out looking to end that streak. Unfortunately for the Warriors, the Lions were able to hit a time expiring layup to end the game in overtime 89-91.

Last night's game was without a doubt one of the best games the Warriors have played this season. Webber took a 6 point lead into half time after holding a 9 point lead for a majority of the half. The second half saw the Warriors extend out to a 10 point lead, but the Lions were able to slowly chip that way as they tied the game at the end of the half to send it into overtime. The overtime thriller stayed close as the time elapsed and found the game knotted up 89-89 with 5 seconds remaining. Florida Memorial's Kody Williams surprised the Warriors defense as he went baseline to baseline on his own throwing up a layup as time expired to seal the deal and end the game 89-91 in favor of the Lions.

Daniel Coffey was outstanding as he put up 22 points in an 89 point team effort against the #22 FMU defense that has kept opponents to a 73 point scoring average all year. Johnathan Childs had 15 points, 1 block, and 8 rebounds. Jovany Deceus had 13 points, 3 blocks, 2 steals and 11 rebounds. Joelle Bigham threw up 12 points and Sheldon Durant registered 11 points.

This was a tough loss for the Warriors as they move to 1-5 in TSC play. However, they will not stay there long as this defeat potentially created momentum going forward. We will find out Thursday evening as they travel to Thomas University in Georgia. Thomas is unranked right now; however, the Sun Conference boasts 4 top 25 teams in the nation. Thomas has played #21 St. Thomas University and #23 Keiser University as their last two games and has defeated them both. Thomas beat #21 St. Thomas 93-61 and defeated #23 Keiser 66-61. Coach Shoffner and the Warriors will have their work cut out for them but will welcome the challenge. Go Warriors!!!
