Warriors Men’s Volleyball Splits Matches Against Milligan and St. Andrews

LAURINBURG, N.C—Webber International University's Men's Volleyball team began their season this past weekend, traveling to North Carolina to take on Webber's sister school, St. Andrews University, and Milligan College. The Warriors went 1-1 for the weekend, beating Milligan College 3-1 and losing to St. Andrews University 1-3.

Their first match of the weekend was against Milligan College, taking down the Buffaloes in 4 sets, 23-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-18. Enrique Larach led the Warriors' in the match with 19 kills, 3 aces, and 4 digs. Matthew Corrales added 9 kills, as well as 1 ace and 3 blocks. Jack Chernak was a wall at the net with 7 blocks for the Warriors. The offense for the Warriors was carried by Bradley Marrero who contributed 33 assists for the match.

The Warriors also took on Webber's sister school, St. Andrews University, while in North Carolina. They battled with the Knights going down in 4 tight sets, 18-25, 25-15, 16-25, 25-27. Larach continued to anchor the Warriors' offense, contributing 18 kills. Chernak added 8 kills and Christian Alvarez gave the Warriors 7 kills. Marrero had 38 assists for the match. Robert Ocasio contributed 13 digs.

The Warriors are now 1-1 in their first season as a program. They will be traveling to Tallahassee, Florida on Saturday January 28, for the Florida State Spring Tournament. Game times are to be announced. Go Warriors!!!
