Lady Warriors Unable to Stop Fire

Box Score LAKELAND, Fla.—The Women's Basketball team traveled across Polk County on Saturday to take on (8) Southeastern University in a Sun Conference battle. They were unable to put a stop to the Fire and were taken down 55-90. The Lady Warriors are now 5-14 overall and 1-7 in TSC.

Jakia Davis carried much of the load for the Lady Warriors, both offensively and defensively. She had 16 points and 4 rebounds, leading the team in both categories. Victoria Baggett and Ta'Lena Freeney also contributed 6 points each in the effort.

The nationally ranked Fire jumped out to an early lead in the game and were able to keep control from that point on. The Lady Warriors fought hard throughout the game but were plagued by 22 turnovers that gave the Fire scoring opportunities. They ended the first half trailing 23-42. The Fire held onto control of the game and extended that lead to finish 55-90. Bailey Hooker led the Fire with 33 points.

The Lady Warriors will return to action on January 24th when they travel down to Miami Gardens, Florida to take on the Bobcats from Saint Thomas University. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 PM. Live stats and video will be provided by Saint Thomas University and can be found here. Go Warriors!!
