BABSON PARK, Fla. - After months of preparation, Webber International University is set to begin their first season of competition. Armed with a roster balanced with youth and experience, the Warriors look to take aim at a schedule that will challenge the team early and often. Highlighted among the list of incredibly talented teams include Warner University, the preseason #3 team in NAIA, St. Ambrose, ranked #8, and Division II Limestone College. The Warriors will also challenge up and coming schools such as St. Andrews, Bluefield, Bryan, Lawerence Tech, and Cincinnati Christian.
The Warriors boast a lineup with more experience than most first year programs contain. Elder statesman Enrique Larach brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the team. A junior who played two seasons at Division II Emmanuel College, he will help lead the offense from the setter position, alongside freshman Bradley Marrero. Both players will have a strong cast of offensive support, including Sophomores Christopher Ludwig and Daryl Brooks, an outside and opposite hitter respectively, and freshman outside Christian Alvarez. From the middle, freshmen Matthew Corrales and Jack Chernak bring an incredible amount of talent and athleticism, and they hope to make the position a huge strength for the Warriors. Defensively, sophomore Trevor Johns and freshmen Robert Ocasio and Steven Bartlett anchor a scrappy defensive from the libero position.Â
The Warriors first test comes this Saturday as they travel to St. Andrews. While there, they will take on Milligan College at 5:00 PM, as well as the host school St. Andrews at 7:00 PM.Â
