Women's Basketball Taken Down by Lady Gyrenes

Box Score Ave Maria, FL—The Lady Warriors made the trip down to Ave Maria, FL on Saturday afternoon to take on Sun Conference foe, the Lady Gyrenes of Ave Maria University. They were unable to outlast the Lady Gyrenes and fell 44-70.

Jessica Colson led the Lady Warriors' offense with 11 points. Quanthavia Stalworth also contributed 9 points in their effort. Tiffany Zito was the defensive leader for the night, leading the team with 7 rebounds. The offensive leader for the Lady Gyrenes was Lauren Gillingham with 17 points. Sarah Miller was the defensive leader with 10 rebounds.

The first half of the game was hard fought by both teams. The Lady Warriors were within one point going into the second half with a score of 25-26. Jessica Colson and Victoria Baggett balanced the offense for the Lady Warriors in the first half, scoring 6 and 5 points respectively. After the break, Ave Maria jumped out to an early lead and was able to extend it to end up winning the game 70-44.

The Lady Warriors fall to 5-12 overall and 1-5 TSC. They will return to action again at home on January 19th at 7 pm to take on St Thomas University in a Sun Conference matchup. Live video and stats will be available on webberathletics.com if you are unable to make the game. Go Warriors!
