(RV) Baseball Splits Final Double Header With (RV) Keiser To Lock 3rd Place Finish In Sun Conference

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BABSON PARK, Fla – The Warriors traveled to Keiser University and came back with a split to bring their overall record to 32-19 and 16-8 in Sun Conference play with a 3rd place finish.

 The first game was originally started back in March then postponed due to weather conditions. They were able to resume the game in the top of the 9th inning with the Warriors down 4-11 with 1 out. Picking up where they left off with runners at 2nd base and 3rd base, Warriors Taylor Layner stepped to the plate. Layner hit a sacrifice fly to score Brett Kaminski and advance Lenin Sanchez to 3rd base. Next up was Connor Clayton. Clayton singled up the middle to score Sanchez to make the score 6-11. It was not enough for the Warriors as they dropped the postponed game to the Keiser University Seahawks.

Game two, also the last game of regular season play for the Warriors, found Webber on the winning side of an offensive outburst in the 8th and 9th innings. The Seahawks jumped out to an early 2-0 lead. In the top of the 3rd inning Connor Clayton capitalized on an error earlier in the inning by smacking a 2-run shot over the left field fence. With a 4-4 tie going into the top of the 8th inning, Mike Castilla came to the plate with bases loaded full of Warriors. Castilla singled through the left side scoring Taylor Layner. The Seahawks then issued  a walk due to the patience of Daniel Aviles that scored Timmons. Sjaghbar Martis singled to left center scoring Aviles and Garrett Martin. Taylor Layner sealed the deal as he hit an infield single that scored Martis and Sanchez. Ryan Labrador received the win for the Warriors off of the mound throwing 4.2 innings and striking out 5. This moves him to 4-0 to end the regular season. The Warriors won game 2 by a score of 10-4.

(RV)Webber International University Baseball has taken 3rd place in the Sun Conference finishing behind #24 ranked Saint Thomas University and #8 ranked University of South Carolina Beaufort.
