Box Score 2 BABSON PARK, Fla – Senior day for the Warriors featured the first two games of a three game set. The Warriors split the day with Southeastern losing game 1, 3-10 and winning game 2, 2-1.
Game one started yesterday evening at 7 p.m. and quickly found itself postponed due to inclement weather. Southeastern had started out the top of the 1st inning putting up 7 runs off of 6 hits with 2 errors. They added another run in the top of the 2nd inning giving them an 0-8 lead over the Warriors. In the bottom of the 2nd inning,
Taylor Layner, went deep for a 2-run homerun scoring
Connor Clayton. This is where the game was postponed until 12 p.m. this afternoon. When play resumed, it was a quiet afternoon as the Fire added 2 more runs in the 6th inning and the Warriors could only muster up 1 more run making the final score 10-3.
Brady Mintell was on the mound for the Warriors and pitched all 9 innings of the game. This gave Mintell his first loss of the year moving him to 6-1.
Game 2 was quiet until the Fire put up 1 run in the 4th inning, by first baseman Acevedo singling in the shorting stop Diaz. The Warriors answered in the 6th inning by
Daniel Aviles reaching first with an error by the second baseman that caused
Daniel Timmons to score tying the game at 1-1. The Warriors were able to make their move in the bottom of the 8th inning.
Lenin Sanchez reached first base with a single.
Sjaghbar Martis then smacked a double advancing Sanchez to third base.
Connor Clayton came to the plate and hit a sacrifice fly to right field that scored Sanchez and gave the Warriors a 2-1 lead.
Ryan Labrador was a beast on the mound for Webber, throwing 8 innings surrendering 1 run and striking out 9 before giving the ball to
Jose Serrano. Serrano came in to pitch the 9th and close out the game for the Warriors. He saw 3 total batters getting a ground ball followed by a fly ball followed by a strike out to end the game and give him his 5th save on the year. Labrador got the win and moved to 3-1 on the year.
