Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Webber International University baseball opened a three-game road set against Florida Memorial, Friday. The Warriors controlled the game from the get-go, taking down the Lions, 7-1.
Taylor Layner picked up his fifth win of the season is stunning fashion. Layner mowed down the Lions, striking out 11 in eight innings of action. He was also strong at the plate, going 2-4 with a walk and two RBI.
Connor Clayton led the Warriors in hits, going 3-5 with an RBI. Freshman, Garrett Martin played well from the leadoff spot, picking up two RBI of his own.
The Warrior opened the scoring in the top of the second. With the bases loaded, Martin delivered a clutch single driving in two runs.
Webber International would push home two more runs in the fifth. Layner picked up an RBI single, while Aviles drew a bases-loaded walk, bringing the Warriors advantage to 4-0.
A throwing error and a double from Layner, put the Warriors ahead, 6-0, after six innings.
Jordan Thomas added another run in the top of the ninth, securing Webber International's, 7-1, victory.
