Box Score BABSON PARK, Fla. – Webber International University baseball hosted Thomas University, Friday, for the first game of a three-game conference set. The Warriors had it working in every facet of the game, taking down the Night Hawks, 9-3.
The top of Webber International's line up was excellent, hitting for a combined 8-14 and seven RBI. Lenin Sanchez brought the power, going 2-5 with a three-run homerun. Sjaghbar Martis led the team in hits with three, to go along with two RBI of his own.
Colin Richardson was stellar on the mound. Richardson pitched eight innings, allowing only three runs and striking out nine.
The first three innings were quiet, when Thomas broke the dead lock in the fourth inning. Back-to-back doubles, put the Night Hawks up 2-0.
The Warriors finally got on the board in the bottom of the fifth. A hit-by-pitch and a single set up Sanchez' soaring three-run shot over the center field wall, putting Webber International ahead, 3-2.
Richardson would go on to allow only one more run, with the Warrior bats staying hot.
A hard hit single by Martis in the seventh, brought the score to 5-2 in favor of Webber International.
A fielder's choice and a throwing error from left field, in the bottom of the eight, allowed the Warriors to add four more runs to its tally. Webber International would go on to win the game, 9-3.
