Box Score WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Webber International University baseball was on the road, Friday, for a Sun Conference matchup against No. 11 Keiser University. The tight contest went to extra innings with the Warriors falling, 5-4, in the 11th.
Taylor Layner and Daniel Timmons both picked up two hits against the Seahawks, with Layner hitting a team-high two RBI. Brady Mintell put in six strong innings, allowing only two runs and striking out five Seahawks.
Webber International struck first, taking a lead in the top of the third. With two outs on the board, Layner delivered a double to center pushing home two runs.
The Seahawks would respond with three unanswered runs behind two homeruns, taking a 3-2 lead into the ninth inning.
In a strange turn events, the Warriors were able to squeak home a run to force extra innings. Timmons lead off the inning with a single up the middle. A wild pitch advanced the pinch runner to second, with a Brett Kaminski grounder moving him to third. In the next at-bat a balk would bring the runner home, tying the game at 3-3.
After a scoreless 10th, the Warriors would take the lead in the top of the 11th. Layner led off the inning with a ground-rule double. Sjaghbar Martis then advanced Layner to third with a deep fly ball. Timmons then gave Webber International the lead with a sacrifice fly.
In the bottom of the inning, Keiser's Keivan Berges hit a walk off two-run homerun, downing the Warriors, 5-4.
