Box Score LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Webber men's soccer team defeated the Warner Royals in the Crooked Lake Cup rivalry. The Warriors came away with a 2-1 victory to finish off their season.

It's no secret that Warriors men's soccer had a tough year. But what better way to send off the seniors and end the year than to finish a 2-0 sweep of the Crooked Lake rivals the Warner Royals.

The first half ended in no score and only 7 shots between both teams. The second half started off great for the Warriors as Pablo Zambrano scored only 7 minutes into the half. The 1-0 Warrior's lead was short lived as Royal's Brian Martin scored 9 minutes later, tying the game and giving it a true Webber vs. Warner experience. The 1-1 tie stood until just 3 minutes remaining in the match. Niall Doherty said enough is enough, he scored off of the assist from Reiss Liggit, the 2-1 score would stand for the duration of the game.

The Warriors team may have had a tough year record wise finishing at 4-9-1 overall with a 2-7 Sun Conference record, but the record did not reflect the ability of this team. The Warrior's head coach, Neil Cockburn, said this "Even though it has been a difficult season, I am proud of the boys and of how competitive they have been this year. Considering all of the setbacks that we've had this year in regards to injuries, I am very proud of the way our seniors were able to step up and show their seniority. Tim Stanford stepped into the center back role and also split time up front registering the winning goal against Ave Maria. Robert Cignarelli, Abe Gill, and Carlos Rocha, all raised their level of play and were great motivators by being leaders this year. I would also like to thank the two best assistants a head coach could ask for, Craig Hughes and Brandon Stout. They will be moving on and truly missed along with our departing seniors. It is a bittersweet ending to the season, however, it is great to win the Crooked Lake Cup and end on a high note! Go Warriors!"

The Warriors did come away with a National Ranking to finish out the year. Randy Chesson had a phenomenal year as the Keeper for Webber. He led the Sun Conference all year in saves per game with an average of 5.79 and 81 total saves. In Division I NAIA soccer, Randy Chesson and the Warriors finished ranked 27th in the Nation with 6.570 saves per game. Noel Francis finishes as the team's offensive leader with 4 goals on the season and 34 total shots. Driss Baraket followed Francis closely as he finished with 3 goals and 33 total shots. Ross Clarke led the team in assists for the year with 3.  Overall the Warriors as a team had 66 shots in the first half of games and 102 shots in the second half.

Go Warriors!!!
