Box Score BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Webber International University Lady Warriors were triumphant over NCAA D-II Eckerd College today with a 1-0 golden goal in overtime play.
No doubting that the Lady Warriors never gave up in today's matchup against the tough non-conference Tritons. The Tritons unleashed 20 shots to the Warriors 9, but were never able to find the net. The Warriors defense, despite the shots, was not to be out matched as they fought tooth and nail for every ball.
Ria Popovic,
Leah Parker, and
Philippa Wilson compiled the back field for the Warriors. However, posting her first shutout of the year was
Sarah Mckinney the keeper for Webber. She was an absolute wall amassing 10 saves on the day.
Sydney Bailey found a way to steal the show yet again for the Warriors. She scored the game winning goal against Johnson & Wales earlier in the season and tonight right off the opening kick to start overtime play, Bailey drove down the side and as she approached the 18, she lifted a kick that floated right over the keeper of the Tritons and sealed the win for the Lady Warriors!
The Lady Warriors had not beaten Eckerd College since September 19th, 2011 where they won at home 4-0. They now shift their focus back to Sun Conference play as they take on the University of South Carolina Beaufort October 9th, at 1:00 p.m. located at Warrior field in Babson Park, Florida. Go Warriors!!!
