Box Score WEST POINT, GA. – The Webber International University Warriors football team took on the Sun Conference foe of Point University today. Today was also Point's Homecoming game. The Warriors (2-2) beat the SkyHawks (1-5) 28-14 lifting them to 1-0 in the Sun Conference.
The Warriors struck first blood as
Garry Chouloute took a 2 yard rush into the endzone. With 00:26 seconds left in the first quarter, the Warriors struck again when
Mario Bargaineer broke loose for a 15 yard run into the endzone. The Skyhawks answered to open up the second quarter with an 11 yard run cutting the lead 14-7. The Warriors were putting together what seemed to be another successful drive, when
Garry Chouloute threw a 30 yard pass attempt that was intercepted by Point and downed at the SkyHawk 20 yardline. The first play of the drive, Rashad Louie ran a sweep through the Warriors defense and scampered for 80 yards and a touchdown. This tied up the game at 14-14 sending it into halftime.
The second half was quiet until the 4th quarter when Chouloute knotched his second rushing touchdown of the day with a 5 yard run.
Austin Logue capped off the next drive with a 7 yard run into the endzone to extend the lead and secure the win as the Warriors finished off the SkyHawks 28-14.
Mario Bargaineer and
Austin Logue led the ground attack as both put up almost 100 yards each.
The Warriors now shift their focus to next weekend, October 22nd at 1:00 p.m., when they take on Ave Maria University in the Sun Conference matchup located in Lake Wales, Fla. at Legion Field.
