Men’s Soccer Narrowly Edged by Keiser in Double Overtime, 2-1

Box Score WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Webber International University men's soccer took on Keiser, Saturday afternoon, falling to the Seahawks, 2-1, in double overtime. Sophomore Sam Todd continued his strong week, netting his fourth goal in two games.

Riding a two-match win streak the Warriors looked to keep things going against Keiser.

It was the Seahawks that scored first, finding the back of the net in the sixth minute. The rest of the first half was a defensive battle as both teams went into halftime with the score at 1-0 in favor of Keiser.

The Warriors came out in the second half pushing the tempo on offense.  Down only one, an equalizer was eminent for Webber International as the offense continued to put pressure on the Seahawks, pushing them deeper and deeper into their own half.

The Warriors finally found a breakthrough in the 89th minute. A quality cross from Nail Doughtery found Luka Coproda in the box, forcing the Keiser defense to commit a foul to prevent a goal. Man-in-form Todd stepped up to take the crucial penalty kick and camly slotted the ball into the top of the net to tie the game at 1-1.

Neither side was able to find a game winner in the final minute of the game, sending it into overtime.

The first overtime period saw no goals but the Warriors did go down to nine men after received two red cards.

Facing a two-man deficit, the Warriors rallied together to play strong defense in the second overtime period. Sophomore keeper Randy Chesson opened the period with a clutch double-save to keep the game even. After absorbing wave after wave of Keiser attacks, the Seahawks found a late winner in the 108th minute, securing a heartbreaking, 2-1, loss for the Warriors.

The Warriors are back in action, Thursday, October 1 when they host Thomas University.
