Women’s Soccer Powers Past Johnson & Wales, 5-3

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. – Webber International University women's soccer traveled south, Wednesday afternoon, for a Sun Conference clash with Johnson & Wales. In a high scoring affair that saw eight total goals, the Warriors came out on top, 5-3.

Senior Cierra Abundez once again powered the Warriors offense, netting her second hat trick in as many games and tallied an assist.

Webber International took the lead early when Abundez played a great ball to fellow senior Megan Howard for her first goal of 2015. Twenty minutes later, Abundez scored two goals in quick succession to put the Warriors up, 3-0.

The Wildcats quickly responded, scoring two unanswered goals of their own and cutting Webber International's lead to 3-2 at the half.

Freshman Juliana Funtes opened the scoring in the second half, with the first goal of her Warrior career in the 54th minute. Abundez secured her hat trick in the 68th minute to put the Warriors up 5-2.

Johnson & Wales were able to find the net one more time, but when the final whistle blew the Warriors were victorious, 5-3.

The Warriors are back in action, Saturday, September 26 at 1 p.m. in a conference road match against No. 4 Keiser.
