Volleyball Opens Season at the Athletes Meals Volleyball Classic

Coach Goodhind and the Lady Warriors travel south for a three-match road trip.

BABSON PARK, Fla. – Webber International University volleyball starts the 2015 season with a three-match road trip at the Athletes Meals Volleyball Classic, hosted by St. Thomas University. The Lady Warriors have two games scheduled for Friday, August 21, against Baker Univeristy at 11:30 a.m. and St. Thomas Univeristy at 7 p.m. Webber International closes out the weekend, Saturday, August 22 with a match up against Dakota State at 2 p.m.

About Webber International
The Lady Warriors went 16-16 last season with a 7-7 mark in the Sun Conference. Webber International was led by Anitaka Knight and Breanna Bissell, who combined for 731 kills. The Lady Warriors will now look to sophomore Michelle Calderon and seniors Bethany Forsyth and Katie Schueman to push the squad to a Sun Conference championship.

"We are excited to see our vision for Webber volleyball take a major step forward this season,: said head coach Brian Goodhind. " This is an amazing group of girls with incredible character and integrity, which should equal a successful season."

About Baker
The Wildcats went 16-16 in 2014 and finished with a 4-5 mark in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. Baker returns 491 kills in seniors Danielle French and Natalie Minchow to form a formidable attack. This match up will be the season opener for both Baker and Webber International.

About St. Thomas
The Bobcats finished 23-8 last season going 13-1 in the Sun Conference. St. Thomas fell one game short of the Sun Conference championship, losing to Embry-Riddle in the final. The Bobcats return the majority of its team from last year, including Whitney Battoe who tallied a team-best 313 kills as a freshman.

About Dakota Sate
The Trojans ended the 2014 season with a 21-15 overall record and went 7-3 in the North Star Athletic Association. The Dakota State attack will be led by junior Carly Rozell, who led the team with 411 kills. While the Trojan offense did not suffer many loses, the defense lost its block and dig leaders, Caitlin Pick and Katherine Gonzalez respectively, to graduation.
