Box Score 2 THOMASVILLE, Ga – Webber International University men's basketball visited Georgia for two match ups. The Warriors first took on Edward Waters, Friday, taking down the Tigers, 78-70. Webber International then faced off against Voorhees College, Saturday, falling to the Tigers late, 73-72.
Webber International 78, Voorhees 70
The Warriors closed the weekend against Edward Waters. Jovany Deceus finished with a game-high 19 points. Dewaine Lyals put together an all-around great game, scoring 12 points, hauling in 12 rebounds and blocking eight shots. Two other players scored double-digits with Sam Auguste and Joelle Bigham both netting 12 points.
Edward Waters controlled the first half, taking a 43-36 lead into halftime. With seven minutes to play, Webber International held a six-point lead, but were unable to hold on to it.
The Warriors came alive in the second half scoring 42 points, while limiting the Tigers to 27. Webber International opened the second half with a commanding 12-4 run. The Warriors would go on to control the rest of the game, winning out 78-70.
Webber International 72, Voorhees 73
The Warriors closed the weekend against Voorhees. Deceus led the charge again, netting 21 points, pulling down seven rebounds and blocking three shots. Two other Webber International players posted double-digit points, with Auguste and Bigham scoring 14 and 13 points, respectively. Lyals narrowly missed his double-double of the weekend, totaling nine points and nine rebounds.
The first half was neck-and-neck, with the Warriors coming out on top, 31-30. Voorhees held the lead for most of the half, holding a 30-28 lead with a minute left to play. With time winding Bigham hit a three-point shot to send Webber International into halftime with the lead.
The Tigers came out fast in the second half, taking a 13-point lead after seven minutes of action. The Warriors three-point shooting kept them in the game, cutting the Voorhees lead to 57-53, thanks to threes from Bigham and Decues. The teams battled back-and-forth the rest of the half. Unfortunately, Voorhees came out on top, 73,-72.
