Box Score BABSON PARK, Fla. – Webber International University women's soccer welcomed Southeastern, Saturday, defeating the Fire, 2-1.
The first half was fairly even with both teams putting together dangerous attacks. Two Kayla Hanel saves kept the game even for the Warriors at 0-0.
In the 35th minute, Philippa Wilson launched a perfectly arched ball over the out of position keeper for a wonder goal, giving the Warriors a 1-0 lead. Webber International's defense stood strong to close out the first half, maintaining the Warriors, 1-0 lead.
Webber International came out fast in the second half, scoring in the 51st minute. Cierra Abundez netted her 17th goal of the season after collecting her own rebound and putting the ball in the back of the net, pushing the Webber International advantage to 2-0. Down by two, the Fire pushed back firing off 10 shots. In the 75th minute, Southeastern was able to get on the board.
With time winding down, Hanel made two more key saves, securing Webber International's, 2-1, victory.
The Warriors are back in action, Monday, October 26 on the road against the University of Tampa.
