Box Score BULFFTON, S.C. – Webber International University women's soccer faced off against USCB, Sunday, in a Sun Conference match up. Offense was on full display, with the match seeing 45 total shoots and seven goals. At the end of the day, the Warriors were narrowly edged by the Sand Sharks, 4-3.
Webber International dominated the first half. Jenna Murphy opened the scoring in the 10th minute. Six minutes later USCB equalized. The Warriors wasted no time reclaiming the lead in the 20th minute, thanks to a Cierra Abundez rocket that found the upper right corner. Abundez has no scored in four-consectuive matches and in six of the Warriors nine games this season.
The Warriors continued to attack in the first half, forcing the Sand Shark keeper into two saves. In the final minute of the half, Gaby Rodriguez played a beautiful chip over the oncoming keeper to put Webber International ahead, 3-1.
The Sand Sharks would wrestle control of the match in the second half, scoring three unanswered goals, winning the match, 4-3.
The Warriors are back in action, Tuesday, October 7 in a road match against St. Leo.
