Lady Warriors Take Second Conference Loss, 49-57

BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Webber International University Lady Warriors basketball team hosted #1 in the conference, St. Thomas University Lady Bobcats this evening and lost their second conference game, 49-57.
 
The Lady Warriors scored first and stayed on top, unil tying 8-8 with 13 minutes left to play. The Lady Bobcats took the lead in subsequent minutes, staying just ahead of the Lady Warriors for the majority of the game.  With 2:07 left to play, the Lady Warriors took it back, 22-21, with a 3-point shot by Jessica Colson.  The Lady Bobcats answered with 3-point shot, 24-22.  With 20 seconds left to play, the Lady Warriors tied the game with a 2-point layup by Deslyn Applewhaite, going into the half, 24-24. 
 
Into the second half, the Lady Warriors broke the tie with a 2-point shot by Applewhaite. With 11 minutes left in the game the Lady Warriors had gained a ten point lead, with 40-30; It was looking hopeful for the Lady Warriors; however, the Lady Bobcats came back, with 3:58 left to play, just under, with 44-45.  At 3:25 left to play, the Lady Bobcats took the lead, 47-45 and never gave it up.  The Lady Warriors fought hard but would take their second loss of the season, 49-57. 
 
Leading the Warriors on the court were: LaQuandra Brazill, with 10 points, 4 assists, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals; and Deslyn Applewhaite, 15 points, 3 assists, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals.
 
The Lady Warriors will return to action tomorrow at 2 p.m. as they travel to Johnson and Wales University in Miami.
