FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Webber International University baseball team faced off against St. Thomas in the third round of The Sun Conference Baseball Championships. St. Thomas eliminated Webber from the tournament with a final score of 5-4.
Webber started off strong putting the first run on the board scoring one in the top of the first only to watch St. Thomas tie the game in the bottom of the inning. In the bottom of the fifth inning the Bobcats gained the lead scoring two runs. St. Thomas extended their lead in the bottom of the sixth and seventh innings scoring one run in each inning. In the top of the ninth the Warriors came up short on their rally only scoring three runs ending the game down 5-4.
Leading the Warriors on the field were:
Chris Suto hitting one for three at the plate scoring two runs;
Shae Cothran went three for four at the plate scoring one run and had one RBI;
Austin AuBuchon hit one for five with two RBI's;
Jason Anderson went one for one at the plate scoring one run.
The Warriors end their season with a 30-28 overall record.
