Warriors Eliminate Warner from The Sun Conference Baseball Championship, 11-5

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Webber International University warriors baseball team played Warner in round two of The Sun Conference Baseball Championship. Webber eliminated Warner with from the tournament with an 11-5 final score.
 
Warner put the first run on the board in the top of the second inning as they scored one run. Webber tied the game in the bottom of the third as they scored their first run of the game. In the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings the Warriors extended their lead over the Royals scoring two runs in each inning. In the top of the sixth inning Warner cut Webber's lead to one as they scored three runs. In the bottom of the sixth the Warriors scored on run to extend their lead to two runs, 6-4. The Royals scored one run in the top of the seventh to come within one run of Webber 6-5. In the bottom of the eighth inning Webber put the game away scoring five runs winning the game 11-5 advancing to the next round of the tournament.
 
Leading the Warriors on the field were: Austin AuBuchon hitting two of four at the plate scoring two runs with four RBI's; Trip Merrell hit three for five at the plate scoring one run and had two RBI's; Chris Suto went two for three at the plate scoring one run and had one RBI; Lane Crosson hit one of three at the plate scoring two runs; Chad Buckley went two for three at the plate scoring one run with one RBI; and Ramon Sanchez hit one for three at the plate with two RBI's.
 
Colin Richardson collected the win for the Warriors' pitching staff throwing five innings allowing only four hits and one run with two strikeouts. Jonah Davis collected the save for the Warriors' pitching staff throwing the last four innings. Davis gave up four hits and one run.
 
The Warriors record improves to 30-27 overall and will return in Fort Myers to face off against the loser of Southeastern vs St. Thomas at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 4th.
