Lady Warriors Softball Give Two To Thomas University

BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Webber International University Lady Warrior's softball team hosted Thomas University's Lady Night Hawks on Sunday and dropped two games in a doubleheader, 2-0 and 8-7.
 
In the opener, Thomas University put one run on the board only to go unanswered the rest of the game.  The Lady Night Hawks managed to extend their lead by one run in the top of the seventh inning and won the game 2-0. 
 
Leading the Lady Warriors on the field were: Ashlyn Harden, Sydney Jones, Alyssa Householder and Jasmine Rodriguez all going one for three at the plate in game one. 
 
Naomi Spurgeon collected the loss for the Lady Warrior's pitching staff.
 
In game two, Webber started out strong scoring five runs in the bottom of the second.  Then, Thomas answered with six runs in the top of the fourth.  The Lady Warriors took the lead again scoring two runs in the bottom of the fourth, answered by a single run in the top of the fifth, tying the game 7-7 into the sixth inning.  Thomas University made the last run in the top of the seventh and took the win over the Lady Warriors, 8-7.
 
Leading the Lady Warriors on the field were: Kalei Levy, going one for five at the plate, scoring one run; Francesca Magliocchetti, going two for three at the plate, scoring two runs and one RBI; Ashlyn Harden, going two for two at the plate, scoring two runs and three RBI's; Jennifer Hamil, going one for four at the plate, with one RBI; Sydney Jones, going one for four at the plate, with one RBI; Alyssa Householder, going one for three at the plate, scoring one run; and Jessica Kobie, who went one for three at the plate, scoring one run and one RBI.

The Lady Warriors softball team will return to action Wednesday as they travel to Warner University take on the Lady Royals in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
