BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Webber International University's Lady Warriors softball team hosted University of South Carolina – Beaufort's Lady Sand Sharks this past Saturday at
Nancy Nichols Field. USBC took home two wins over the Lady Warriors with a 7-0 win in the opener and a 6-2 win in game two.
In game one USCB scored six runs in the top of the fourth inning only to extend their lead in the sixth and go unanswered by our Lady Warriors. The Lady Sand Sharks won the game, 7-0.
Leading the Warriors on the field in game one were:
Sydney Jones with one hit;
Alyssa Householder with two hits; and
Jasmine Rodriguez with one hit.
Jessica Sheffield collected the loss for the Lady Warriors pitching staff.
In game two, neither team scored for three innings. USCB scored two runs in the top of the fourth and Webber scored one run in the bottom of the fourth. The Lady Sand Sharks extended their lead with three runs in the top of the fifth and one run in the top of the sixth. The Lady Warriors then answered with one run in the bottom of the seventh, losing the game 2-6.
Leading the Lady Warriors on the field in game two were:
Francesca Magliocchetti going one for four at the plate, scoring one run;
Jennifer Hamil going one for three at the plate, scoring one run; Pinch hitter,
Jasmine Rodriguez with one hit and 1 RBI; and
Sydney Jones with one RBI.
Naomi Spurgeon collected the loss for the Lady Warrior's pitching staff.
The Lady Warrior's record falls to 13-17 overall and 2-6 in The Sun Conference. The Lady Sand Shark's record improves to 25-5 for the season and 1-1 in The Sun Conference. Webber will return to action on Sunday as they host Thomas University in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
