Warriors Sweep Conference Series From Lions

MIAMI, Fla. – The Webber International University Warriors baseball team traveled to Miami to take on Florida Memorial in a very important three game conference series. After today's double-header, the Warriors are headed home with a clean sweep over the Lions, 3-0.
 
In game one of the conference double-header it was all Webber. The Warriors scored the first runs of the game in the top of the first inning as they scored two runs. In the top of the second inning Webber extended their lead driving in five more runs. The Lions responded in the bottom of the third putting their first run on the board. Florida Memorial cut into Webber's lead again in the bottom of the fifth scoring another run. The Warriors gained an 8-2 lead after scoring one run in the top of the seventh inning only to watch the Lions get two runs back in the bottom of the inning. In the top of the ninth inning the Warriors put the game away scoring five runs and they shut down the Lions in the bottom of the ninth winning the game 13-4.
 
Sean Stanislawski collected the win in game one for the Warriors' pitching staff. Stanislawski threw in five innings only giving up two runs on five hits with six strikeouts.
 
Leading the Warriors on the field in game one were: Chris Suto went three for five at the plate scoring four runs with two RBI's; Ramon Sanchez was three for four at the plate scoring two runs; Shae Cothran went one for three at the plate scoring two runs with three RBI's; Austin Aubuchon was two for five at the plate scoring two runs and had two RBI's; and Dylan Price went three for four with two RBI's.
 
In game two the Warriors started out slow. The Lions put the first run on the board in the bottom of the first inning. Webber tied the game in the top of the second putting their first run on the board. Florida Memorial regained the lead in the bottom of the second scoring two run. In the top of the fourth inning the Warriors gained the lead scoring five runs. In the bottom of the fourth the Lions cut Webber's lead down to one as they scored two runs. Florida Memorial tied the game in the bottom of the seventh inning scoring one run. The Warriors retook the lead in the top of the eighth scoring one run. The Lions sent the game into extra innings as they scored the tying run in the bottom of the ninth inning. Both teams would fight until the 13th inning until the Warriors broke the defensive deadlock scoring the final run winning the game 8-7.
 
Dylan Price collected the win for the Warriors' pitching staff in game two of the double-header.
 
Leading the Warriors on the field in game two were; Shae Cothran went three for six at the plate scoring two runs with one RBI; Chad Buckley was two for seven at the plate scoring two runs; Taran Schofield scored two runs as a pinch runner; and Austin Aubuchon went three for six at the plate with three RBI's.
 
The Warriors' record improves to 27-24 overall and 12-12 in The Sun Conference.
 
Webber returns to action on Friday, April 18th as they travel to Daytona Beach to take on Embry-Riddle starting at 4:00 p.m.
