JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Warriors tennis team traveled to Jacksonville to meet SCAD – Savannah in a make-up match. Their match, scheduled in Savannah, was postponed. Webber met SCAD at the Florida State College tennis center. Webber won the match 6-3. SCAD was previously undefeated in The Sun Conference.
The Warriors jumped out to a 2-1 lead after the completion of doubles.
Mislav Colak and Justus Klocke rocked at #1 doubles with an 8-0 win. In the number two doubles, Rodrigo Santibenez and
Jonathan Cohen won 8-4. The Warriors lost #3 doubles, 9-8.
The Warriors won four of the six singles matches. Winning for Webber was: #1 – Niklas Kammer, 6-0, 6-0; #2 –
Jonathan Cohen, 6-2, 7-5; #3 –
Mislav Colak – 6-1, 6-2; #6 –
Firmiano Filho, 6-1, 6-1.
The Warriors improved their record to 10-6 overall. They have now won 3 matches in a row. Webber is 5-1 in The Sun Conference. They have qualified for The Sun Conference Championship Tournament and have clinched the #3 seed, at least, for that competition.
Up next for the Warriors is county rival, Florida Southern College. Webber will host the Mocs on Wednesday, April 2
nd, at 3:00 p.m. on the Webber Campus Courts in Babson Park.
