MIAMI, Fla. – The Webber International University Lady Warriors softball team traveled to Miami to take on conference opponent St. Thomas on Sunday, March 30
th. The Lady Bobcats won game one of the double-header and the Lady Warriors collected the win in game two.
In game one, Webber put the first runs on the board in the top of the third inning driving in three runs. The Lady Bobcats responded in the bottom of the fourth scoring two runs. In the top of the sixth inning the Lady Warriors scored another run extending their lead to 4-2 over St. Thomas. In the bottom of the sixth and seventh innings the Lady Bobcats scored one run in each inning tying the game at 4-4. In the top of the 10
th inning the Lady Warriors scored the go ahead run only to see St Thomas tie the game in the bottom of the inning. Webber scored another run in the top of the 11
th only to watch the Lady Bobcats win the game in the bottom of the inning as they scored two runs, 7-6 final.
Leading the Lady Warriors in game one were:
Jasmine Rodriguez going two for five at the plate with two runs and one RBI;
Sydney Jones and
Jennifer Hamil both going one for five at the plate with one run and RBI; and Krstalie Cabral going one for four at the plate with one run and RBI.
St. Thomas jumped out to an early lead in game two as they scored in the bottom of the first inning.
In the top of the sixth the Lady Warriors ended the defensive battle as they scored two runs gaining the lead. The Lady Bobcats tied the game in the bottom of the seventh forcing extra innings. Webber scored two runs in the 8
th inning and held off St. Thomas to win the game 4-2.
Leading Webber on the field in game two were:
Ashlyn Harden going three for four at the plate scoring one run and driving in three RBI's;
Sydney Jones went two for four at the plate and scored one run; and
Lydia Hough went one for four and scored one run.
The Lady Warriors record moves to 13-15 overall and 2-4 in The Sun Conference.
The Lady Warriors will return to action on April 3
rd as they travel to Avon Park to play South Florida State College starting at 5:00 p.m.
