BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Webber International University baseball team hosted conference opponent St. Thomas University. The Bobcats took game one of the three game conference series from the Warriors with a final score of 8-2.
The Bobcats put the first run on the board in the top of the first inning. St. Thomas extended the lead in the top of the second inning as they scored another run. The Bobcats scored three more runs in the top of the sixth inning. The Warriors responded in the bottom of the seventh inning putting their first run on the board. In the top of the eighth inning St. Thomas scored another run and in the top of the ninth inning they scored two more runs. Webber ended the game scoring one more run in the bottom of the ninth ending the game down 8-2.
Josh Ganus collected the loss for the Warriors' pitching staff. Ganus threw six innings allowing nine hits and five runs while striking out seven batters.
Leading the Warriors on the field were;
Chris Suto and
Shae Cothran both going two for four from the plate and scoring one run each.
The Warriors record falls to 16-15 overall and 3-7 in The Sun Conference.
The Warriors will return to action on Saturday, March 15
th as they host St. Thomas in a double header starting at noon.
