HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The Webber International University Warriors baseball team traveled to Hardeeville, South Carolina, to face off against the University of South Carolina Beauford Sand Sharks in The Sun Conference opener. The Warriors won the first game of the three game series 10-2.
 
The Sand Sharks would put the first runs on the board in the bottom of the second inning as they drove in one run, 1-0. In the top of the third inning Webber responded scoring seven runs, 7-1. USCB cut into the Warriors lead in the bottom of the third inning scoring another run, 7-2. In the top of the fourth inning WIU would score two more runs, 9-2. Then after four innings with no score, the Warriors scored the last run of the game in the top of the ninth inning winning the game with a final score of 10-2.
 
#23 Josh Ganus collected the win for the Warriors pitching staff.
 
Leading the Warriors on the field were: #34 Austin Aubuchon had 4 hits, 3 RBI's, and  one run; # 13 Ramon Sanchez scored 3 runs and had one hit; #14 Shae Cothran scored 2 runs, had 2 hits, and one RBI.
 
Webber improves their record to 4-3 overall and 1-0 in The Sun Conference.
 
The Warriors will return to action on Saturday, February 8^th as they play USCB in a double header starting at 12:00 p.m.
