Warriors Defeat Eckerd College 12-8

BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Webber International University Baseball team hosted Eckerd College in a 6:00 p.m. game on Heart of Florida Field. The Warriors took down Eckerd with a final score of 12-8. WIU started #33 Benjamin Feinman on the mound looking to extend their winning streak.
 
The Warriors started off right away putting the first run on the board in the bottom of the first inning #13 Ramon Sanchez hit a single up the middle scoring #5 Lane Crosson, 1-0.  Webber extended their lead in the bottom of the second scoring three more runs, 4-0. In the Top of the 5th Eckerd College would put their first run on the board scoring one run, 4-1. WIU responded in the bottom of the 5th scoring three more runs, 7-1. Eckerd College cut into the Warriors lead in the top of the 7th scoring five runs, 7-6 Webber on top. In the bottom of the 7th inning the Warriors bats responded scoring four runs of their own reclaiming the lead, 11-6. In the top of the 8th Eckerd College scored 2 runs, 11-8. WIU responded in the bottom of the 8th inning scoring the last run of the game, 12-8.

Benjamin Feiman collected his first win as a pitcher for WIU.
 
Leading the Warriors were: #13 Ramon Sanchez with five RBI's off of four hits; #5 Lane Crosson with three runs and three hits; #15 Chris Suto with three runs; #39 Pedro Fernandez with two runs and three hits; and #44 Trip Merrell with two RBI's.
 
Webber improves to 3-3 overall and Eckerd College falls to 2-2 overall.
 
The Warriors will return to action on February, 7th as they travel to the University of South Carolina Beauford to open conference play starting at 1:00 p.m.
