BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Webber International University Warriors baseball team hosted conference opponent Southeastern University Fire in the 2nd Annual Salute the Troops game.
The Fire put the first run on the board in the top of the first, 1-0. WIU responded in the bottom of the 3
rd as they scored two runs gaining the lead, 2-1. In the 4
th inning Southeaster tied the lead, 2-2. Then in the bottom of the 4
th inning the Warriors scored three more runs to regain the lead, 5-2. In the top of the 5
th inning the fire scored five runs putting themselves back on top, 7-5. WIU tied the game in the bottom of the 5
th scoring two runs, 7-7. In the 6
th inning both teams scored a run keeping the game tied, 8-8. In the bottom of the 7
th inning WIU regained the lead, 9-8. WIU extended their lead in the bottom of the 8
th scoring three more runs, 12-8.
Leading the Warriors on the field were: #14
Shae Cothran with 3 RBI's, two Runs, and a hit; 5
Lane Crosson with two RBI's, two hits, and one run; and #34
Austin Aubuchon with three runs, three hits, and two RBI's
The Warriors record improves to 9-7 overall and 3-4 in The Sun Conference.
The Warriors return to action at home starting at 12:00 p.m. on the Heart of Florida Field as they play Southeastern in the final two games of the three game conference series.
