Warriors Fall to Thomas 2-1 Overall in Conference Series

BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Webber International University Warriors hosted the Thomas University Night Hawks in a conference double-header on the Heart of Florida Field starting at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 15. The Night Hawks would sweep the double header and take the conference series 2-1.
Game One
The Night Hawks put the first run on the board in the top of the 2nd inning, 1-0. WIU tied the game in the bottom of the 3rd inning scoring one run, 1-1. Then in the top of the 4th Thomas scored four runs on the Warriors defense giving them a 5-1 lead. The teams were deadlocked for the rest of the game. The Night Hawks tied the series after game the 5-1 game one win.
Leading the Warriors in game one were; #22 Cody Warren scoring the only run for the Warriors; #13 Ramon Sanchez with the lone RBI; and #14 Shae Cothran with two hits.
Ben Overman collected the win for Thomas University pitching staff and Benjamin Feinman suffered his first loss of the season for the Warriors.
Game Two
After a short break, WIU started #24 Chris Garcia on the mound. The Warriors started off strong putting the first runs on the board in the bottom of the first inning, 2-0. WIU extended their lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the 5th inning. The Night Hawks' bats came to life in the top of the 6th inning as they scored 5 runs gaining the lead 5-4. In the bottom of the 6th the Warriors tied the game with two outs 5-5. In the top of the 9th inning Thomas regained the lead scoring two runs 7-5. WIU was unable to respond as the Thomas defense shut the Warriors down in the bottom of the 9th. Thomas won game two with a final of 7-5.
#25 Rob Lane collected his first loss of the season as the Warriors pitcher.
Leading the Warriors on the field were: #5 Lane Crosson scored two runs, had two hits, and an RBI; #15 Chris Suto scored two runs off of one hit; #29 Ryan O'Gara scored the other run for the Warriors as a pinch runner. 
The Warriors record moves to 7-7 overall and 2-4 in The Sun Conference. 
WIU returns to action on Tuesday, February 18th as they host Clearwater Christian College starting at 7:00 p.m.
