Warriors Defeat Royals in Conference Double Header Barn-Burner, 2-0

BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Webber International University men's and women's basketball teams faced off against Crooked Lake Rival, Warner University in a conference matchup on Wednesday, January 29th in the Sabbagh Athletic Center starting at 5:00 p.m.

The Lady Warriors and Lady Royals kicked the night off at 5:00 p.m. Warriors were down 34-29 into half time but would come out strong after the break and would be on fire. The Lady Warriors would out score the Lady Royals 48-36 and would win the game with a final score of 77-70.

Leading the Lady Warriors on the court were #02 forward Laquandra Brazill, with 26 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals; #24 Yesenia Lora, with 15 points, 3 rebounds 2 assists and 2 steals; #23 guard, Jasmine Singleton with 14 points, 2 rebounds 2 assists; # 25 forward, Sarah Dileonardo with 13 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks; and #32 Shalontay Rose with 2 points, 2 rebounds and 4 blocks.

The Lady Warriors improve their score 10-7 overall and 7-2 in The Sun Conference. The Lady Royals' record falls to 13-6 overall and 4-5 in The Sun Conference.

The men's games would start after a short break. The Royals would come out strong gaining an early lead. The Warriors would gain the lead with 13 left in the first and would hold off the Royals and would go into halftime on top 43-36. The Warriors would hold onto the lead until the last seven minutes of the game when it would go back and forth during the rest of the game. The Warriors Nate Morrell would score the last points of the game with less than one second left putting the Warriors on top 80-78. The Royals would out score the Warriors in the second half 42-37 but would not be enough to win the game.

Leading the Warriors on the court were #32 forward, Aaron Terry with 24 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals; #04 guard, Nate Morrell with 14 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 1 steal; #01 Raymond Durant with 12 points, 4 assists, and 3 steals; #21 forward, Daniel Coffey with 6 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 assist; #33 Jovany Deceus with 6 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 assist.

The Warriors record improves to 8-13 overall and 4-6 in The Sun Conference. The Royals score falls to 9-12 overall and 2-8 in The Sun Conference.

The Warriors men's and women's teams will return to action in a double-header against Ave Maria University on Saturday February 1st. The next home game will be a double-header against Southeastern University on Tuesday, February 4th in the Sabbagh Athletic Center.
