Box Score Pineville, LA. – The Webber International University Warriors football team traveled to Pineville, Louisiana to take on Louisiana College in a 12:00 p.m. game. Louisiana College would have a hold your breath last drive of the game and would come out on top of the Warriors, 16-12.
The Warriors would be the first to put points on the board when
Anthony Woythaler would make a 23 yard field goal with 18 seconds remaining in the first quarter. The Woythaler would extend the Warriors lead with 7:11 left in the second by making a 22 yard field goal. Louisiana College would respond as the half ended scoring their own 49 yard field goal. After the break Louisiana College would score two more field goals to take the lead for the first time, 9-6. The Warriors defense would respond when
Daniel Booth intercepted the ball and would bring it 65 yards for a touchdown giving the Warriors the lead again, 12-9. Louisiana College would be on the ropes their last drive but would find the end zone with 29 seconds left in the game. The final score would be Louisiana College 16 Webber International University 12.
Leading the Warriors on the field were:
Brendan Deshields with 16 carries for 41 yards, Zack day 15 carries for 34 yards and Kody Sallis 4 receptions for 55 yards.
On the defensive side of the ball the Warriors were lead by
Daniel Booth who had six tackles one interception he returned for a touchdown;
Steven Mcpherson had 5 solo tackles 7 assisted tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss.
The Warriors falls to 1-2 overall and Louisiana College improves to 2-0.
The Warriors will return to action on Saturday, September 21
st, as they travel to Barbourville, KY. to face off against Union College starting at 12 pm.
