WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Northwood University (Fla.) junior varsity basketball team clipped visiting Webber International University JV, 72-69, in The Sun Conference Tournament Championship at the Countess de Hoernle Student Life Center on Sunday afternoon.

With the game knotted at 11-11, Northwood pulled away from the Warriors with an 14-0 run over a four-minute span, fueled by an eight-point effort from senior guard Dahjon Wildgoose, to take a 25-11 lead. Trailing 33-20 with 6:01 remaining in the half, Webber cut their deficit to single digits with a 10-4 run, behind back-to-back three-pointers from junior guard Austin Floyd, making it a 37-30 game heading into the half.

The Warriors chipped away at the Seahawks lead over the opening seven minutes of the second half, and a pair of free throws from junior forward Alex Felipe pulled Webber to within three, 45-42. Northwood extended their lead with a 5-0 run, capped off by a mid-court steal and layup by Wildgoose. Webber rallied back yet again with 12-5 run over a five-minute span, putting the Warriors within a point, 55-54. The Seahawks pulled ahead behind a 13-5 run eclipsing six minutes of play, fueled by seven points by Wildgoose, giving Northwood a 68-59 lead with 25 seconds to play. A late-game fouling strategy by Webber paid off for the Warriors as they knocked down late buckets in a 10-2 run in just twenty seconds of play to make it a 70-69 game. Northwood freshman guard Marcus buried a pair of free throws to push the Seahawks lead to 72-69, and a last second three-point from Webber was off the mark, sending the Seahawks to the 2013-14 Sun Conference Tournament Championship crown.
