Warriors Continue Win Streak Over Tigers, 49-9

Box Score LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Webber International University Warriors football team hosted Edward Waters College Tigers at Legion Field in Lake Wales. The Warriors who just came off their bye week would be too much for the Tigers to handle winning the game 49-9 which continues the Warriors winning streak. The Warriors have won their last three game two of which were at home on Legion Field with decisive victories.
 
The Warriors would strike first as Brendan Deshields would score on a 20 yard run with 11:14 left in the first quarter giving the Warriors the lead, 7-0. Then with 10:08 on the clock Daniel Booth would return an interception 19 yards for the Warriors second touchdown of the night, 14-0. Then with 9:49 left in the first the Warriors would recover a fumble caused by Grady Morrell and he would be the one with the ball at the bottom of the pile. After the fumble recovery the Warriors were within striking distance on the Tigers 8 yard line. The Warriors Larry Gaskins would score on an four yard rush extending the lead to 21-0. Then with 5:45 left in the first quarter Daniel Booth would return another interception, this one for 86 yards, for a touchdown 28-0 Warriors on top at the end of the first quarter.  The Tigers would respond in the second quarter with 14:10 left on the clock when they hit a 30 yard field goal, 28-3. Both teams would be unable to move the ball the rest of the second quarter ending the first half of play with the Warriors on top 28-3 over the Tigers.
 
After the break the Warriors defense would come up big as Grady Morrell caused another fumble that would be returned 60 yards for a touchdown by Steven Willis, 35-3. With 1:26 left in the third quarter Billy Pavlock would find Mitch Choquette in the end zone for a 22 yard touchdown pass and reception, 42-3. The Tigers would respond late in the fourth quarter as the Warriors starters watch the second string get some playing time. The Tigers would score on a 38 yard pass form Reymond Berhane to Kenneth Payne, 42-9. The Warriors second string would respond to that touchdown with one of their own. With 41 seconds left in the game Jaden Adams would score the last points of the game on a 16 yard run ending the game with the Warriors on top 49-9 over the Tigers.
 
Leading the Warriors on the field on offense were: Billy Pavlock with 6 completions off of 14 attempts and one touchdown; Larry Gaskins with 8 carries for 66 yards and one touchdown; Brendan Deshields with 6 carries for 27 yards and one touchdown; Jaden Adams with 2 carries for 21 yards and one touchdown.
 
Leading the Warriors on defense were: Daniel Booth with 3 interceptions two returned for touchdowns and one pass breakup, he also had 1 solo tackle and 2 assisted tackles; Steven Willis with 4 solo tackles, 6 assisted tackles, one fumble recovery for a touchdown; Grady Morrell with 3 solo tackles, 4 assisted tackles, and 2 forced fumbles and 1 fumble recovery.
 
The Warriors record improves to 4-2 overall and the Tigers record falls to 0-7 overall.
 
The Warriors will return to action on Saturday, October 19th as they host Point University in their Homecoming game at Legion Field at 1:00 p.m.
