Warriors Extinguish Fire For the Second Time In Conference Play

Box Score BABSON PARK, Fla. Webber International University Men's Basketball once again defeated Southeastern University for the second time in conference play with the final score of 63-54. This game was important as players, coaches and fans celebrated  Coaches vs Cancer by wearing pink during the game.
 
It was a must win game for the Warriors as they attempt to gain ground amongst conference leaders. The Warriors are currently 4th in The Sun Conference and with the win they will separate themselves from SEU who were one game behind the Warriors. The First half was close to begin as both teams executed their game plans effectively. The Warriors led at the half 33-20. Jakeem Hill had 8 points with 5 rebounds. Mike Bonilla and Tyler Auerbacher both added 7 points each.
 
 The Warriors were able to take point guard Patrick Ryan away from the offense. Ryan struggled the entire night shooting 1-7 from the field scoring just 6 points.  Webber's benched was key tonight with productively from Raymond Durant, Deandre Simpson and Nate Morrell.
 
Southeastern chipped into a 13-point lead after consecutive 3-point shots from Brandon Moore and Jordan Talley. The Warriors responded with a run of their won scoring the next 6 points. WIU controlled the second half for the most part with their defense.  Gabriel Rutledge came up with defensive rebounds when his team needed him most.
 
The Warriors were led on offense by Jakeem Hill who finished with a double -double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Tyler Auerbacher added 15 points to go along with 5 rebounds. Nate Morrell and Mike Bonilla added 9 points each. With the win the Warriors improve to 12-9 overall and 7-4 in the conference. SEU drops to 14-9 and 5-6 overall.
 
Up next for the Warriors will be St. Thomas University. The Bobcats are on top of the conference and the Warriors will seek to gain ground with a win. The game will be played on the campus of WIU. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
