Box Score Clinton, MS – The Webber International University (Warriors) traveled to Clinton, Mississippi to take on Mississippi College (Choctaws) on Saturday, September 9
th. The Warriors would come up short in the last minutes of the game losing, 31-24.
In the first half of the game the Choctaws put the first points on the board on a fumble recovery. The Choctaws followed by kicking a 40 yard field goal with 2:19 left to play in the 1
st quarter (10-0). The Warriors then scored their first points on a completed pass to
Corey Jackson in the back of the end zone from Jeffery Wayner (10-7). The Choctaws finished the half scoring the last points off another fumble recovery for a touchdown (17-7).
Coming out of the locker rooms the Warriors were fired up. The Warriors defense took the field and got the first points of the second half when Dilas Lopez picked off a Choctaw pass and returned it 47 yards for a touchdown (17-14). Mississippi College would do the same a little later extending their lead (24-14). Shortly after on a four yard rush by
Brendan Deshields the Warriors scored (24-21).
Mason Prater tied the game with a 19 yard field goal with 7:15 left in the game (24-24). On the final chance to win the game the Warriors missed a 40 yard field goal which was followed by the game winning touchdown from Mississippi College (31-24).
The Warriors will return to action on the road again as they face off against Jacksonville University on September 15
th, with kickoff set for 2:00 p.m.
