Wildcats Take Down Warriors in Season Opener 34-16

Box Score LAKE WALES, Fla. – Webber International University (Warriors) opened their season hosting Louisiana College (Wildcats) on Saturday afternoon, September 1, 2012. The Wildcats would prove to be too much for the Warriors as they won the game with a score of 34-16.
 
The first half of the game was a back and forth battle as the Wildcats put the first points on the board with 8:40 left in the first quarter, 7-0. The Warriors would answer when Grady Morrell recovered a fumble 35 yard for the Warriors first touchdown of the season, 7-6. The Warriors missed the extra point attempt. The Warriors would score again with 14:33 left in the second quarter giving WIU the lead, 13-7. The Wildcats would score the last points in the first half with 6:48 left to play and the Warriors' Adan Olivaries would block the extra point attempt, 13-13.
 
The second half of the game the Wildcats would again put the first points on the board with 9:48 left in the third, 20-13. The Warriors would respond with a 51 yard field goal from Mason Prater which ties his personal best in 2010, 20-16. The Wildcats would then run the ball to eat-up the clock and would score two more times before the end of the game, 34-16.
 
The Warriors record falls to 0-1 and the Wildcats record improves to 1-0.
 
The Warriors will return to action next Saturday, September 8, 2012 when they travel to face-off against Mississippi College. The game is set to start at 7:00 p.m. All fans can follow the game via Live Stats by clicking on the following link.
