DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The #23 ranked Webber Warriors tennis team fell 5-3 to the #17 ranked Warner Royals a The Sun Conference tennis tournament in Daytona Beach. The Warriors complete their season with a 15-7 record.
WIU found themselves down 2-1 after doubles play with only the #1 team of
Valentin Bayh and
Carl Ackered picking up a win. In singles the Warriors the win at #3 as Ackered won and
Alwin Leysner won at #6. Unfortunately, the winning stopped for Webber and the match was halted after Warner scored a fight 6-4, 7-6, (5) win at #4 singles.
“Our team played and fought hard, but we came up a little short,” stated Coach Heath. “Congratulations to Coach Jose Martinez and his Warner team for a remarkable year,” added Heath.
Embry-Riddle defeated Warner 5-0 in the finals.
