Babson Park, Fla. – In a very hotly contested match on the WIU Campus Courts, in Babson Park, the Webber International men's tennis team won a hard fought match against NCAA-I opponent, Bethune-Cookman University. The final score was 6-3 for the now 2-0 Warriors.
 
After double, the Warriors led 2-1. 
Carl Ackered and Tyler Heth came from 6-2 down to pull out an 8-6 win at #2 doubles. 
Daniel Spurny and 
Marcel Schmitt won 9-8 at #3 doubles, while at #1 Valentine Bayh and 
Joonas Jalkanen lost a tough 9-8 decision.
 
After singles play started, Webber went down 3-2. The Warriors lost at #2 and #3 singles. Ackered started started the comeback with a 6-2, 6-0 win at #4 to knot the match at 3-all. 
Daniel Spurny pulled out a 3-setter at #1 by winning 6-7, 6-2, 6-2. 
Alwin Leysner clinched the match for the Warriors with a 6-2, 6-3 win at #6. Closing the match out was 
Marcel Schmitt at #5 with a 7-5, 3-6, 10-7 win.
 
The Warriors open conference play on Wednesday, February 8
th, when they host Ave Maria on the WIU Campus Courts Complex. The match will start at 2:30 p.m.
