Lady Warriors Fell to Lady Lions

Saint Leo, Fla. – Webber International University (2-3) women's soccer team lost to a notable NCAA Division II opponent, St. Leo University (4-0) with a score of 1-5 on Sunday September 11, 2011.

On Sunday versus SLU, Lady Warriors had 13 shots and 4 were on goal; whereas, Lady Lions had 27 shots and 13 were on goal. Amanda Solis scored her second goal of the season on a free kick from 40 yards out into the bottom of the net.

Saint Leo put the first goal on the scoreboard just one minute and fifty seconds into the first period. Barbaresi ripped a corner kick over the hands of Morejon to put the ball in the far side, giving the Lions an early lead.

Soesemann grabbed the game-winner in the 37th minute thanks to an assist from Jamie Smith. Smith's ball deflected quickly off of the Lady Warriors keeper, setting up Soesemann with a perfect sliding shot into the middle of the goal.

The Lions held a 2-0 advantage at the break, and entered into the second stanza with plenty of gusto as they posted another three goals to close out the afternoon.

Saint Leo led the shot count 27-13, and had more corner kick opportunities 7-6. Webber posted eight saves to the Lions' three, and committed 12 fouls compared to the Green and Gold who only caused six.

Lady Warriors will host Robert Morris University on Saturday September 17, 2011 at 1 pm, and will travel to Eckerd College on September 22, 2011 to start at 7 pm before playing their The Sun Conference matches.
