Lady Warriors Fell to Lady Spartans

Tampa, Fla. – Webber International University (2-3) women's soccer team lost to University of Tampa (1-2), with a score of 1-9 on Friday September 9, 2011.

The Spartan offense started off strong by scoring five goals to take a large lead at half. The offense was well spread out throughout the team as seven different players scored goals. Tampa's first goal came at minute 20 from Jazmin Perry, assisted by Gabby Russo. Perry would finish with one goal and one assist, while Russo dished out four assists throughout the game.

Goals by Natalie Gibson and Dana Palmiotto followed at minute 24 and 30, respectively. Gibson and Palmiotto finished with one goal each. Megan Lawrence and Jenny Karl finished off the first half with unassisted goals at minute 39 and 41, respectively.

Webber scored first in the second half. However, Tampa continued its offensive surge by scoring four goals throughout the second half. Carolyn Simon kicked off the offensive attack by scoring a goal at minute 64, where Perry was also credited with an assist. Lauren Moore knocked in consecutive goals at minute 74 and 76. Karl finished off the offense with her second goal of the game from a Russo assist.

On Friday versus UT, Warriors were outshot by UT with four shots; two were on target and a goal by Natalie Menderos, which was her first college goal. She took the shot outside the box and the goal went passed the goal keeper and into the left side of the net. University of Tampa had 30 shots and 15 were on target.

Lady Warriors will host Robert Morris University on Saturday September 17, 2011 at 1 pm, and will travel to Eckerd College on September 22, 2011 to start at 7 pm before playing their The Sun Conference matches.
