Babson Park, Fla. - The Webber International University men's tennis team opened play in The Sun Conference with a 9-0 victory over Ave Maria University. The Warriors are now 1-1 overall and 1-0 in TSC.

WIU roared out to a 3-0 lead by sweeping all of the doubles matches. Winning in doubles were #1 Thiago Marion and Joonas Jalkenen, 8-5, #2 Rafael Teixeira and Juuso Tapanainen, 8-1; # 3 Marcel Schmitt and Alwin Leysner, 8-0.

The Warriors also swept all six singles matches, dropping only one set in the process. Singles winners were: #1 Teixeira, 6-3, 6-0; #2 Marion, 7-5, 2-6, 10-2; #3 Tapanainen, 6-0, 6-0; #4 Andres Riobueno, 6-0, 6-0; #5 Schmitt, 6-0, 6-0; #6 Leysner, 6-0, 6-0.

Webber next match is on Monday, February 14, at 2:00 p.m. on the WIU campus courts. The Warriors will be hosting Crooked Lake rival, Warner University. Webber's JV team will be playing Warner's JV team at the same time.
